ABOUT US We've been skateboarding practically forever. Self taught artists, designers and (to coin a new title) "skateboard technology engineers", we embraced the punk DIY ethic from the beginning. If you needed a ramp or a bowl to ride, or needed to improve the crappy overpriced gear you had, you made it or modified it yourself. That's where progression comes from. So when someone trots out that tired old platitude "why fix it if it isn't broken", we reckon it's probably because they're trying to sell you something that essentially IS broken. They are only interested in maintaining things the way they have been so they can go on controlling and profiting from it. After all, skateboarders would still be riding on the same steel wheels from the 60's if someone didn't finally say "Hey these wheels SUCK! There MUST be a better way!!" We never set out to become a business or even to rebel against the status quo, we just wanted to play around with improving our gear and have fun doing it, so we are forever thankful to people like you who turned a garage hobby into an internationally known name. -The Darkspeed Tribe |
ABOUT OUR LOGO We believe that a logo should not just be a cool looking piece of art, but something that has significant meaning to it. Our logo is a modern interpretation of an ancient Celtic symbol called the Triskelion that has many meanings to it, and it nicely sums up our philosophy on skateboarding and life in general. |
On the physical plane of existence it symbolizes dynamic principles that have been important to humans (and skaters) since the beginning of time, themes such as action, motion, speed, cycles, rotation, progress, and competition. Triangles are the most stable geometric shape, and three triangles is the symbol for radioactive material. Similarily, great skateboarders have both strong bodies and the stable mind required to persevere and innovate, and skateboarding is an activity that radiates a lot of energy. The Triskelion also has universal spiritual and/or humanistic meanings. The three spirals or legs represent common trinities of stability and balance such as: -Mind, Body, Spirit -Father, Son, Holy Ghost -Mother, Father, Child -Past, Present, Future -Power, Intellect, Love -Creation, Preservation, Destruction -Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll -Huey, Duey and Louie -Larry, Curly and Moe |
